Most of Cesare's memories are not real — he never played out in the street with friends as a child, he never read the book that was seemingly his favourite, he never went to a town fair. They make him happy, however, and he cherishes them during his eternal slumber.
But there are some that upset him; memories of the future, of death and blood. They don’t fit in with the rest of them, because the knife he holds is more real than that one book.
There’s nothing he can do about those memories, they aren’t made by him anyway.
