But Erik, this bright-eyed young man, saw her still burning spark, her experience, her professionalism; and no one dared to question him when he decided Julie was to be his assistant — it's as if he can make people do as he pleases, it's as if he's a hypnotist.
She would forever thank him for the opportunity, she thought as she touched another rose he had given her.
